Chobani launches its first non-dairy, plant-based recipe
NORWICH – Chobani announced the launch of a new product on Wednesday: its first ever non-dairy, coconut based recipe, Non-Dairy Chobani.
This month Chobani is rolling out nine Non-Dairy Chobani cultured organic coconut products to give more options to people looking for non-dairy recipes, low in sugar and high in probiotics.
"We have a belief: if we can't make something better, we don't make it at all. And for some time, we've felt that people deserve better non-dairy options," said Chobani Founder and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya in a press release.
"We've come up with something that's much better than what's out there – a new recipe that's absolutely delicious, but also meets our food philosophy of being nutritious, made with only natural ingredients and at a price that's accessible to all. Most importantly, this isn't a replacement to dairy, but it's a game-changer for plant based products."
With the release of Non-Dairy Chobani, the Norwich-headquartered yogurt company has launched 30 new items this winter across three lines, including its Less Sugar Greek Yogurt portfolio and Chobani Gimmies for kids.
According to the company the Non-Dairy Chobani products are made with 25 percent less sugar than the average non-dairy cup and drink. They will be produced exclusively at Chobani's facility in Twin Falls, Idaho, using natural, non-GMO ingredients, and no artificial flavors, sweeteners, preservatives, gluten or soy.
The Non-Dairy Chobani products will include five single-serve cup flavors – blueberry, peach, slightly sweet plain, strawberry, and vanilla – and four single serve drink flavors – mango, slightly sweet plain, strawberry, and vanilla chai. The suggested retail price is $1.99 per 5.3 oz single-serve cup and $2.49 per 7 oz single-serve drink.
In naming the product Non-Dairy Chobani, the company said it hopes to take "...a leadership role in advocating for transparency in the dairy industry and clear distinctions between milk-based foods, such as yogurts, and other options like our Non-Dairy Chobani cultured organic coconut purees."
They will be available in grocery and retail stores nationwide this month. For more information on Non-Dairy Chobani or any of the company's products, visit www.chobani.com.
