Purple Tornado Shut out Forks on the lanes
Boys claim STAC East Division title
NORWICH – The Purple Tornado boys bowling team clinched first place in the Southern Tier Athletic Conference East Division after their 5-0 win over Chenango Forks Monday afternoon. The Norwich squad returned five of their seven bowlers that reached the New York State Championships a year ago and topped the Blue Devils in the match by 690 pins.
The Tornado’s Nick Deady and Griffin Clipston each bowled a 627 series, tying for the best three-game total for the match. Deady’s third game score was a 247––the highest of the afternoon by any bowler in the match.
Clipston rolled two 200-plus games to lead Norwich in the first two games of the match. Teammate Cameron Birtch finished the match with a 581 series that included a 212 game in the third while Scotty Manwarren hit 200 in game two on his way to an end total of 520 for the three games.
Kai Sheer rounded out the top five with a 460 series. His highest single game was a 170.
