WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Anthony Brindisi (NY-22) delivered his first speech on the House of Representatives floor on Wednesday morning, outlining his priorities in Congress.
Brindisi said he was honored to stand on the house floor as a representative of New York's 22nd Congressional District.
"When I talk to Upstate New Yorkers, there is one thing I hear time and time again: Washington is broken," said Brindisi. "We are all tired of Washington's partisanship, and I am here tonight to reiterate my promise to work with anyone who is willing to solve problems."
He named his priorities, including working with members of both parties to address rising health care costs to ensure "...everyone has access to high-quality, affordable health care."
Brindisi said he wants to bring good jobs to Upstate New York, strengthen its schools, improve its job training programs, and fight to ensure farmers have support to get a fair price for their goods and make an honest living.
Additionally Brindisi said he will stand with service members and veterans, ensuring they have "...the support and resources they need when wearing our country's uniform and when they return home," as well as standing up for everyday people in the face of companies who use monopolies to abuse consumers.
"Above all else, my top priority will be to listen to my constituents, to be a voice for Upstate New Yorkers," said Brindisi. "I know that by working together we can deliver real results for hardworking people."
