Storm boys and girls bowling win to sit at top of MAC standings heading into postseason

NEW BERLIN – Both the Unadilla Valley boys and girls bowling teams swept their matches with Deposit on Friday afternoon, finishing the season with a final record of 46-10 on the season. Both of the Storm bowling squads currently lead the Midstate Athletic Conference and await for the conclusion of the regular season to determine if they are crowned the regular season champions. 
In their match against Deposit, the UV boys team put together two straight games with more than 1000 pins racked up for their score. Led by Austin Jackson’s 658, the team finished with a final pin total of 2972 – 693 better than their opponent for the match.
Jackson started for the three-game match bowling a 248, the highest score of game one in the match. He followed it up with a 212 in game two and a 198 in the final game of the afternoon.
UV’s Will Rumovicz also started off hot, bowling a 234 and a 222 for his first two games. He finished with a 163 in game three for a series total of 619.
Colin Grant of the Storm recorded a three-game total of 632 and rolled a 278 in game two for the highest single game of the match by any bowler of the two teams.
Nick Guller and Brandon Kneale rounded out UV’s top five bowlers, hitting a 532 and a 531 respectively.
Deposit was led by Mike Rynearson’s 577, which including a 204 for the highest single game for his team.
Unadilla Valley’s girls were led by Gracie Oglesby’s 546 series score on their side of the match. Oglesby bowled a 200 in game two to snag the highest single game by any of the girls in the match.
The Storm team bowled a three-game total score of 2440 while Deposit finished with a 1985.
Aiding in the UV win was Whitney Rogers series score of 540 and teammate Paige Catena finished with a 511. Breanna Thall ended the day with a 449 while Izora Ramsey and Cat Livingston spilt the three games. Ramsey bowled a 125 in the final game while Livingston’s first two game were recorded towards the team score where she totalled a 269 for the match.
Deposit was led by Carol Struble’s 469 series and her single game 167 for the highest by the visiting team.
Prior to the start of the match, head coach Matt Bleyle honored his five Storm seniors – Austin Jackson, Gabby Potter, Breanna Thall, Izora Ramsey and Catherine Livingston – for their dedication to the program over the years.
Next up for UV is the Midstate Athletic Conference championships, which are held at Sunset Lanes in Kirkwood on Tuesday. The tournament is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
