NEW BERLIN – Oxford spoiled Unadilla Valley’s senior night Tuesday, taking the Midstate Athletic Conference win from the Storm 49-35.
“We didn’t shoot well from the field or the foul line,” said Brandi Whitbeck, head coach for UV. “[Oxford] out played, out rebounded and out hustled us.”
The Blackhawks held a two point lead at the end of the first quarter and never lost it again as they continued to extend their advantage at the end of each quarter.
Kyleigh George scored 15 points, a game-high in the scoring column, spread across the first three quarters of play but the Blackhawks’ defense held her scoreless in the final eight minute stretch. George was the only Storm player to reach double figures.
Teammate Kirsten White chipped in eight points for UV.
Oxford’s Madalyn Barrows and Caitlin Quigley recorded 11 points each, sharing the team-high scoring honors. Ellie Ryan tallied nine points and Karley Miller scored eight.
UV hosts Afton on Friday while Oxford’s next game will be part of the MAC playoffs. The Storm’s game on Friday is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
