WAVERLY – Oxford’s Erin Howard finished Friday with nine-game total 1,814 to secure a spot on the Section IV all-star team that is headed to the New York State Championships.

Three games of her game scores carried over from the week prior at the Section IV Class C tournament, where the junior Blackhawk was the top bowler of her class.

Now Howard will travel to Syracuse and bowl with Brenna Gleim of Hancock, Elmira’s Kayla Avery, Brittney Millhollen from Corning, and Abbey Marshall of Horseheads. Windsor’s Linsey Anders and Susquehanna Valley’s Lyndsie Jicha, who also rolled top-10 totals, will attend the championships on the all-star team as alternates.

The Norwich boys team, who also attended the Section IV state qualifying tournament in Waverly, placed fifth overall with a team score of 8,333. The Tornado bowling team who attended the state tournament last season, will not return this season.

The Sidney Warriors were the top team of Section IV Division-II and have qualified as the representative for the championships.

The New York State Championships return to the Syracuse area this season but will not be held at the OnCenter. Instead, AMF Strike ‘N Spare Lanes will host the state tournament, which will be held on March 8 through March 10.
