NORWICH – The future of the Chenango SPCA’s Fur Ball is looking solid after the 15th annual fundraiser on Saturday was considered a success by CSPCA staff.
CSPCA Executive Director Annette J. Clarke said while they don’t have the numbers finalized yet, roughly $6,000 was raised at this year’s Fur Ball at the Canasawacta Country Club––over $2,000 of which came from the event’s silent auction.
“When all was said and done, it worked out well,” said Clarke. “The evening was good, people seemed to have a great time. Those that were there, they loved the band, they loved the food, the auction did well.”
Clarke said 77 people attended this year’s Fur Ball, all of which appeared to have a good time, enjoying the cuisine provided by the country club and the musical stylings of the band Brotherhood.
In the weeks leading up to the event, the CSPCA had considered pulling the plug on the Fur Ball – the shelter’s biggest annual fundraiser – due to a low number of ticket sales. But it still managed to be a successful Fur Ball year, Clarke said, and so they plan to continue the event in years to come.
“We had toyed with the idea of not doing this event again but I think we’ve dismissed that and we are going to do it again because it was successful enough that we feel it’s worth it,” said Clarke.
The CSPCA is located at 6160 County Road 32 in Norwich. From 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, CSPCA will hold a Full Bellies Pet Food Pantry Day while supplies last, open to Chenango County residents who are on an assistant program such as SSI or are considered low-income.
Interested pet owners can see if they qualify by visiting CSPCA during its business hours from noon to 4:30 p.m., everyday except Thursdays and Sundays when it is closed, or by calling (607) 334-9724 ext. 2.
