Election law changes to be discussed at public meeting

Chenango County Democratic Commissioner of Elections Carol Franklin and Republican Commissioner of Elections Mary Lou Monahan will be the featured speakers at Election Night at the Moon at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

NORWICH – On Monday, Chenango Links will present "Election Night at the Moon," a public meeting with Chenango County Board of Elections Republican Commissioner Mary Lou Monahan and Democratic Commissioner Carol Franklin to discuss recent changes in New York's election laws and the general duties and functions of Chenango's board of elections.


The meeting is open to the public and will take place at the Bohemian Moon in Norwich at 6:30 p.m. following a buffet dinner and cash bar at 5:30 p.m. A main portion of the meeting will be an overview of election law changes taking effect this year, with Monahan and Franklin answering questions from the audience.

The board of election commissioners will discuss the combination of the federal and state primary elections to both take place in June, simplified absentee voting, the nine day early voting period prior to elections, same day registration taking effect in November 2021, restrictions on campaign contributions from LLCs, and other election law changes affecting Chenango County voters.

    Town of Norwich board meeting is on the same night at 7 PM, I would like it if my board could be there.
