Friends of Rogers prepares for eighth annual Spring Frolic

SHERBURNE – Friends of Rogers' eighth annual Spring Frolic: A Savory Celebration will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 21 at Magros Banquet Hall.

Featuring keynote speaker Mark Golden of Golden Artist Colors, over a dozen food and drink vendors, over half a dozen tables with silent auction items, and a cash bar, the Spring Frolic is Friends of Rogers' biggest annual fundraiser.

Friends of Rogers Executive Director Simon Solomon said as the keynote speaker, Golden will discuss how Golden Artist Colors is sustainable and how it views and supports the environment from an operational standpoint.

Returning to the event as MC will be Chobani employee Dan Brown, and Chenango Bird Club members will be in attendance as honored guests. Live entertainment will be provided by music duo Jenni & Tom.

Solomon said Friends of Rogers has received a number of donations towards the silent auction from individuals, businesses, and organizations in the community, including $500 worth of beer products and gift cards from Empire Farm Brewery which will be peppered throughout the auction items, season tickets and parking passes for Colgate University football, tickets to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, a wide array of frame art and pottery, and more.

Also included in the silent auction will be maple syrup harvested at Rogers Center in the Selleck Sugaring Project. The project was created by Friends of Rogers in memory of one of its past board members, Bruce Selleck, who passed away unexpectedly in July 2017. The syrup is currently available in the Rogers center bookstore, but the Spring Frolic will be the first event where the syrup will be made available to the public. Bruce's wife, Nancy, will be in attendance at the event.

"Typically people get [the silent auction items] for a bargain," said Solomon. "Of course we like to see them bid higher, the silent auction is really where the returns are for us. Ticket sales are one thing, but the silent auction is really where we like to try to generate the majority of our revenue from the event."

Spring Frolic attendees will be able to make unlimited trips to food and drink vendors at the event, including A Moveable Feast by O'Connors, Bueno Taco, the Canasawacta Country Club, DCMO BOCES culinary, Empire Farm Brewery, Fojo Beans, Gilligan's Island, the Hamilton Inn, Jewett's Cheese, Ye Olde Landmark Tavern, Lewis' Restaurant, Old Home Distillers, and Rossi's Catering.

Event admittance is $49 per person for those who pre-register by Saturday, March 9, and $59 for those who register after March 9. To register or for more information, call Friends of Rogers at (607) 674-4733 or email development@FriendsofRogers.com.
