Redefining the take on traditional music at EOH

EARLVILLE – The Earlville Opera House is pleased to present Celtic-American Roots music “super group”, RUNA on the EOH Mainstage at 7 p.m. on March 23.

Celebrating their 10-Year Anniversary, RUNA continues to push the boundaries of Irish folk music into the Americana and roots music formats. Interweaving the haunting melodies and exuberant tunes of Ireland and Scotland with the lush harmonies and intoxicating rhythms of jazz, bluegrass, flamenco and blues, they offer a thrilling and redefining take on traditional music.

In conjunction with the band’s 10-Year Anniversary Tour, RUNA released their sixth album in January 2019. The album entitled “TEN: The Errant Night” features several Grammy award-winning guest artists, including legendary Irish singer, Moya Brennan; Nine-Time All-Ireland Irish Fiddle Champion, Eileen Ivers; Nashville Session Musican, Jeff Taylor; and Nashville Singer-Songwriter and Harmonic Player, Buddy Greene, and many more!

Seeking to preserve and continue a traditional culture in a modern age, RUNA creates the backbone of its signature roots sound from the musical and geographical diversity of its individually established band members. Their strive for excellence and creativity blazes a trail for the future of folk music, earning them the reputation as one of the most innovative Irish folk groups of this generation.

RUNA consists of vocalist and step-dancer, Shannon Lambert-Ryan of Philadelphia, Dublin-born guitarist, Fionán de Barra, Cheryl Prashker of Canada on percussion, Jake James of New York on the fiddle, and Caleb Edwards of Nashville on mandolin and vocals.

The group has been honored internationally, winning Top Group and Top Traditional Group in the Irish Music Awards and three Independent Music Awards including Best LIVE Album, Best World/Traditional Song, and Best Bluegrass Song. John O’Brien, Jr. of the Ohio Irish American News calls RUNA “Genuine and with endless innovation…”!

Tickets for RUNA are $25 general admission, $23 members (become a member!) and $10 for youth 17 and under. College students are always half off general admission.

The Earlville Opera House is located at 18 East Main Street in the quaint Village of Earlville, NY 13332. Tickets can be purchased online at www.earlvilleoperaouse.com, or by calling (315) 691-3550. The EOH is wheelchair accessible.
