NORWICH – The Ryan Clan Band announced earlier this month it'll be touring again this year with family friendly authentic Irish music performances throughout the Southern Tier of New York, including a stop at the Norwich VFW for a fundraiser this Friday.

The Ryan Clan Band will be performing from 8 to 11 p.m. this Friday, March 15 as part of a fundraiser to help the Norwich VFW build a war memorial.

The band is comprised of Frank Revoir, Jr. on guitar and lead vocals, Bill Scranton on guitar, mandolin and vocals, Tom Ryan on banjo, and vocals, Dan Ryan on bass and vocals, Pat Ryan on vocals, and Brennan Ryan on bass.

According to Revoir, the band has been together since the 1980s, and continues to promote authentic Irish music. He said in 2016 band member Tim Ryan passed away, and Brennan Ryan has since joined the band.

"We don't take ourselves too seriously," said Revoir. "We grew up with authentic Irish music, and we think it's important we play it because it's part of our heritage."

He said the band learned many of its songs from fellow performer Mike Carnrike, and continues perform those songs for audiences statewide.

"We performed under other names such as The Sons of Ireland and The Wild Colonial Boys and our good friend, Mike Carnrike was the band leader and lead singer," said Revoir. "Eventually he decided to venture out in a different direction and he now performs Irish music with his daughter, Patti Carnrike and their group, Glenravel, is well known throughout the area."

He added that The Ryan Clan Band looks forward to performing at the Norwich VFW, and hopes to see people come and have a good time.
