Hummel's to be rebranded as Norwich Copies Plus

NORWICH – Local entrepreneurs Christine Walker, Missy Hayes, and Chris Hayes have partnered to reopen and rebrand the recently closed Hummel’s Office Plus retail location in downtown Norwich.

Located at 6 East Main Street, “Norwich Copies Plus” will open on or about April 1, 2019. Owner Walker, who will keep her role as Retail Manager will oversee day to day operations, said “We’re working furiously to have everything set for an early April opening. Ready or not, we’ll have our basic product and service offering in place to service our long term and loyal customers.”

To start, that basic product service offering will include copies, faxing, laminating, Ups and FedEx shipping, printed business forms (checks, invoices etc.), stocked and special-order office supplies, and office furniture.

“We’re really looking forward to this. Personally, I’ve been at this location for 15 years now and I’ve had the privilege to service a multitude of local businesses, organizations, and individuals and can’t wait to do so again.”

With an office supply history at 6 East Main Street dang back to the 1950s (originally Sumner’s Business Supplies & Equipment), Walker and the Hayes team are proud to keep the office products and services tradition alive.

Owner Missy Hayes, who’ll manage behind the scenes business and cash management systems, agrees.
“Today’s retail environment continues to change but the need for convenient, relevant services of any kind will always exist. We understand the impact online shopping has had and will continue to have on Main Street but also understand how that same phenomenon has created a local products and services vacuum that anyone prepared to do so can capitalize on.”

Interestingly, the Norwich Copies Plus team will be rounded out by a connected relationship with Hummel’s Office Plus (Mohawk, NY). Though they won’t have any ownership in the new enterprise, Hummel’s will have an important supporting role. Partner Chris Hayes explains “Having run an office supply and service business previously, I understand the many moving parts and systems it takes to be successful and those systems are costly to create and maintain. Rather than struggle through that process, we’ve asked Hummel’s to fill some key roles. They’ll be our primary inventory supplier and will maintain accounts receivable so that area organizations and businesses can continue to pick up and “charge” orders in the store.”

The anticipated first day of business at Norwich Copies Plus is Monday April 1, 2019. Store hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The store phone number remains (607) 334.8222 and the fax number is (607) 334.8224. Staff can also be reached by email at norwichcopiesplus@gmail.com.
