NEW BERLIN – The Unadilla Valley/Gilberstville-Mount Upton Storm weathered a scare by Bainbridge-Guilford in the third inning, but thanks to seven runs in the sixth inning, the Storm were able to hold on for the 12-4 on Thursday.

“Colin Grant pitched a great game [Thursday],” said Storm head coach Matt Osborne. “He had great command of his fastball and curve ball and he didn’t fall behind in the count often as he mixed speeds well. The defense behind him was outstanding.”

Grant pitched all seven innings on the hill, allowing three hits and four runs over. He struck out seven in the win.

Offensively, UV/GMU found their grove after their performance against Greene Tuesday afternoon.

The Storm scattered nine hits in the game with Kyler Butts and Cameron Osborne managing multiple hits in the contest. Butts went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead UV/GMU.

“After striking out 12 times against Greene Tuesday, we wanted to be more aggressive at the plate and put the ball in play. We did just that.”

The offensive onslaught by Bainbridge-Guilford in the third inning was led by Garrett Ives, Devon Scherhaufer, and Thomas Palmatier as all three recorded an RBI in the frame.
