DuBois missed the podium by just four seconds after completed a huge comeback. After an incident at the start that causing him to enter the woods last, DuBois battled back to sixth place.
Caden Moore (Norwich) finished in a strong 17th place while the Growler’s lone girl rider, Kayleigh Currie (Sherburne-Earlville), had a strong race and placed ninth in the freshman girls division.
With the high school races taking place in the afternoon, the Growlers had Norwich’s Stanton Baker entered in the large junior varsity race category and twin brother Dan Thompson and Andrew Thompson – both of Norwich – entered in the sophomore race.

Scoring for a team is based on the top four point-earners, with a maximum of three of those point-earners scoring in either the boys or girls category. This is the first year that New York is scoring the middle school teams. Prior to the change, it had been just individual scoring.
The Growlers MS team fielded a partial team with three boys and no girl in the 4-person team format.
“Having at least one girl on the team is very important in NICA competition,” said Rob Baker. “Having more than one girl on the team is a huge advantage.”
The Growlers’ high school team fielded a complete team score of 1,786 points, equating to a ninth place finish out of the 18 teams that competed. Contributing to the Growlers team score were Daniel Scholl (500 points), Wyatt DuBois (456 points), Stanton Baker (396 points) and Kayleigh Currie (434 points).
