Concerned citizens question proposed wind turbine project

GUILFORD – Residents of Guilford and other nearby areas filled their town hall on Wednesday some in favor and others opposed to the proposed wind turbine project.


The meeting was held Wednesday night at the Guilford Town Hall, and officials heard concerns from citizens about the effects the turbines would have on several topics including wildlife, human health, and local aesthetics. Officials also heard from individuals in support of the project stating that it would bring notoriety, economic development, and green energy to the town.

According to the Calpine Corporation, the project is called "High Bridge Wind Farm." The company that would be building the wind turbines, the farm would be a 100 megawatt, utility-scale energy project that is proposed for eastern Chenango County in the Town of Guilford.
