Bainbridge man charged with stabbing two people
BAINBRIDGE – A man was charged with stabbing two victims in the Town of Bainbridge on Saturday and has been remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility without bail.
On May 4, 2019 at approximately 2:32 p.m., New York State Police at Sidney charged Franklin H. Farrell,71, of Bainbridge, with second-degree assault and third-degree assault.
According to a statement from New York State Police Troop C Commander Major Brian Shortall, troopers were dispatched to a physical dispute at a residence on County Route 39 in the town of Bainbridge.
"Their investigation determined that after an argument, Farrell grabbed on victim by the arm causing lacerations," said Shortall. "When a second victim came to intervene, Farrell allegedly brandished a knife attempting to stab the second victim."
He said the second victim was able to back out of the way and sustained a cut to the stomach, but Farrell is accused of then slashing at the second victim who sustained defensive wounds to the arms and fended off Farrell with a running board from a vehicle which was laying nearby.
He added that Ferrell was transported to Tri-County Hospital for his injuries and was charged after his release.
Farrell was arraigned in the town of Bainbridge court where he was remanded to the Chenango County Jail without bail. An order of protection was issued to both victims. He’s scheduled to return to court on Thursday, May 9, 2019.
