ITHACA – In his first appearance at the New York State Boys Golf Championship, Alex Gage tied for 38th and finished 42nd overall after his two-round tournament at Robert Trent Jones Golf Course, Cornell University in Ithaca Sunday and Monday, June 2 and 3.

Gage battled unique conditions both days, dealing with down pouring rain and strong wind gusts throughout but the outdoor elements were harder to deal with during the second round of play according to his head coach Dave Branham.

The Norwich senior started his tournament on the 10th hole of the course with a par. He then continued the to finish even for the next three holes.

Then, on the 13th hole, Gage faced a setback of a triple-bogey on the par three. He finished out the back nine of the course with two pars and two double-bogeys.
