NORWICH – Sickler Memorials has been helping local families remember and care for their lost loved ones for more than 60 years, providing monuments and other burial services since the late 1950's.

“We've been in the business of helping people for more than 60 years. Were proud being apart of that and we take it very seriously,” said Carol Olin, Sickler's owner.

Recently the business moved to a new location in downtown Norwich.

Sickler is located behind Ameriprise Financial and Giltner's, along South Broad Street, in the NBT parking lot. The entrance to the store is almost directly across from Hayes Street.

The store can also be reached from Front Street, passing through the NBT parking lot, you will see displayed headstones outside the business making it visible from Front Street.

Olin took over the business several decades ago after her late husband pitched the idea at a family dinner.

“He saw a job offer for a monument and he told us at the table we should get into it and we laughed at him,” recalled Olin. But a short time later the couple was researching the business and started working with Ken Sickler.

“We found that Ken had a really good business, he really did,” said Olin. “We felt lucky to become apart and take it over.”

Currently Sickler has three stores in Norwich, Pittsfield and Oneonta. Information about the company can be found at sicklermemorials.com. Sickler Memorials has over 5000 designs and can even create custom monuments.
