Morris man pleads guilty to rape at knifepoint

NORWICH – A Morris man pleaded guilty to rape and drug charges in Chenango County Court on Monday after tying a victim up at knifepoint in her apartment.


Dustin C. Freeman, 30, of Morris pleaded guilty to first-degree rape, a class B felony, and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a class B felony.


As part of the plea, Freeman will be sentenced to 18 years in prison, with 10 years post-release supervision for the rape charge. He will also get three years in prison and a year-and-a-half post-release supervision to run concurrently for the drug charge.

According to his indictment, Freeman raped a victim between 1 to 8 a.m. on December 5 at an apartment on Genesee Street in New Berlin. He said he tied her up, holding her at knife point and forced her to consume illegal drugs.


District Attorney Michael Ferrarese said a representative of the victim will speak at Freeman’s sentencing at 9:30 a.m. on September 9.
