City to to discuss selling city hall at tonight's meeting

NORWICH – The City of Norwich Common Council will hold special meeting and a committee meeting tonight, one after the other, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the City of Norwich Courtroom.

The meetings will discuss changes to leash laws and other ordinances to accommodate the newly established dog park.

The city clerk's office also said the agenda has been updated and the common council will also discuss a proposal to sell city hall to a commercial buyer.

The city is considering an offer to sell One City Plaza, the current location of City Hall, for about $130,000. City offices would then be moved to the third floor of the Norwich fire station.

Other issues to be discussed include transfer of the Norwich fire training facility to the county, the Norwich fire contract agreement with the towns, and staffing at the police department.
