SHERBURNE – The Chenango Bird Club’s last walk in its summer evening birdwatching series will be a stroll along Rogers Center’s Channels Trail on Wednesday, August 14 at 6 p.m.

The organization will follow the walk with a pot luck supper at the picnic pavilion.

According to event organizers, the Channels Trail is flat, about 7 tenths of a mile, and circles the Channels Marsh which often features several aquatic habitat birds. Forest species are also possible as the trail is largely wooded.

They said attendees can plan to learn a few new species by sight or sound, and they invited everyone to attend even if they don’t have binoculars; we have a few extra to share.

All those interested may bring a dish to pass and stay for the meal following the walk, and bring a plate, cup, and silverware. Organizers said many bird club members are good cooks.

The Chenango Bird Club presents monthly programs, except on January, February, and March. Nature enthusiasts of all levels and interests are invited to all Chenango Bird Club programs, free of charge, at the Rogers Environmental Education Center. Rogers Center is located one mile west of Sherburne Village on State Highway 80.
