Ward Three alderman resigns; council appoints McCracken to finish term
NORWICH – The Norwich Common Council has accepted the resignation of Ward Three Alderman John Deierlein.
Deierlein has represented the city's third ward since 2008, making him the longest-serving member of the Common Council. His resignation took effect Aug. 14.
At their regular meeting, council members unanimously approved that the remainder of Deierlein's four-year term be filled by Ward Three resident Bryan McCracken. The term expires Dec. 31.
McCracken's no stranger to the Common Council, having been appointed to represent Ward One back in 2012 and winning a term in the subsequent election. McCracken lost his bid for re-election in 2015 to current Ward One Alderman Matthew Caldwell.
