Norwich volleyball sweeps away Blue Devils

NORWICH – Only needing the first three games to claim a Southern Tier Athletic Conference win, the Lady Purple Tornado took down the Blue Devils of Chenango Forks 3-0 Tuesday night.
In the first set of the match Norwich claimed a 25-9 victory and moved into the second set. Forks battled in both the second and third games of the night but the host Tornado closed out the games 25-18 and 25-14.
Norwich’s Lauren Squires and Marissa Ramey combined for 16 kills in the match as Squires led the way nine. Ramey added seven and recorded an ace while her colleague tallied two aces, a block and a dig for the night.
Maddy Morris of the Tornado dished out 10 assists in the match and senior teammate Francesca Salerno finished the night with five. Salerno also had four aces, four digs and one block.
Sam Binelli scored four aces, an assist, three kills and four digs to come away from the match with a full stat line. Lexi Whaley served up three aces and libero Megan Lindridge saved three points on dig converted attempts.
