Bobcats on losing end of close match with Eagles

GUILFORD – Bainbridge-Guilford and Deposit/Hancock’s match a Sundown Golf Course in Guilford ended with the two team separated by just eight strokes. Unfortunately, the home Bobcats were the team on the losing side, falling to the Eagles 238-246.

Caleb Presly, a junior on the B-G team, came away with top medalist honors for the match as he finished with a 40 for the round – just four stroke over par on the nine-hole, par 36 course.

Bobcats’ teammate Ryan McCarthy ended his nine holes just two strokes back of Presly, scoring a 42.

Deposit/Hancock’s Brennan Karcher carded a 43, shooting the best score for the Eagles in the Tuesday afternoon match. Roger Newman shot a 46 and teammate Adam Goebel was three strokes off, turning in a 49 for the day.

Tom Lord also finished with a 49 for the match while colleague Jon England scored a 56 and Julian Pruskowski rounded out B-G’s top five scorecard with a 59.

The Eagles’ Nick Locke and Nathaniel Westbrook both shot a 50 in the match, capturing the four and five spot for their team in the round.

Bainbridge-Guilford (7-3) and Deposit/Hancock will meet again on Wednesday, this time at the Eagles home course. Match play is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
