Lady Storm blank Afton/Harpursville on road for third straight win

AFTON – The Lady Storm head into the final game of the regular season carrying a three game winning streaking after shutting out Afton/Harpursville 6-0 on the road Friday afternoon.

George’s first two came within minutes of each other as she broke open in the scoring with 29:51 left in the first half. She took a well placed ball from teammate Paige Catena and sent it into the back of the net for the one goal lead.

Less than two minutes later, the two UV players connected again for the second goal, giving the Storm a 2-0 lead before the half time break.

As nine minutes ran off the clock in the second, George scored the three of her hat trick accomplishment, this time receiving a pass from Josalynn Carson.

Putting the ball between the posts for the first time of her varsity career, Isabella Potter was next to score for the Unadilla Valley team to go up by four.

Catena, who finished the game with three assists, netted a goal of her own a minute after Potter registered the unassisted goal to give the Storm the fifth of the day.

With 1:42 remaining in the game, Catena recorded her third assist for the contest with a well-timed pass to Alyssa Manwarren for the final tally of the game.
