Vikings’ Hazzard makes 10 saves in loss to Beavers
BROOKFIELD – The Lady Vikings put up a strong effort in Friday’s road game against Brookfield but fell by a final of 5-1 to the host Beavers.
Brookfield’s Jenna Bugbee recorded a hat trick in the win, scoring on three of the 33 shots fired in the direction of Otselic Valley’s keeper Lexi Hazzard.
Seeing a lot of action between the posts as the opposition was ripping shot attempt after shot attempt, Hazzard had a big day with 10 saves to keep the Beavers to five goals.
After scoring the first goals of her varsity career earlier in the week, OV’s Victoria Reichard stayed on her goal streak to tally the lone goal by the Vikings offense. Teammate Maddy Walrod delivered the assist on the scoring play for Reichard.
Otselic Valley took 12 shots in the game but Madilyne Kupris, Brookfield’s goalie, made seven stops in the game.
The Beavers also saw goals from Hannah Barber and Danica Karn while Lily Veer-Elliot and Bugbee registered assists during the contest.
The Lady Vikings continue their final stretch of games on the road against Cincinnatus on Wednesday. Game is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. start.
