NORWICH – A former teacher now pastor at Norwich’s Assembly of God Church joined the community earlier this year and will host an outdoor movie night later this month.
The Outdoor Movie Night will be held at 5:30 p.m. on October 26, at the Norwich Assembly of God Church at 97 Silver Street in Norwich. Regular congregations are held at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays.
According to Assembly of God Pastor Dave Campbell Jr., events like these are a great way to show the community that churches can be a center for fun.
“One of the big things I’m hoping to do is to bring people to the church that may not have come otherwise,” said Campbell. “I want to show people that you can come to our church and have a great time no matter what you believe.”
Campbell said the upcoming movie night will include free hot dogs, hot chocolate, trunk or treat, games, and more.
He said the church is also in the process of developing a clothes closet for those in need, with a room full of donations already present at the church.
“We want to give back to the community, and we’re hoping that by hosting events and distributing donations to those in need – we can do that,” said Campbell.
Campbell said that there are 10 statements of fundamental truths that guide his church, and those who are interested in learning more about Norwich’s Assembly of God may visit citychurchag.org/norwich-campus for more information.
