Registration now open for the Mountain Mover 5k race to benefit students

OXFORD – Join walkers and runners at 10 a.m., October 26th at for the 6th annual DCMO BOCES Mountain Mover 5k race in Norwich.

Event representatives said the money raised from the 5k directly contributes to school and career success for area youth.

According to Gretchen Hoag, Race Coordinator, “This year alone we have purchased four pairs of shoes, three Commercial Driver’s License physicals, and a belt.” Funds are available to students at both the Chenango Campus in Norwich and Harrold (Sidney Center) Campus in Masonville. Combined, both campuses serve four counties.

The 5k is a challenging trail run through the woods behind the BOCES campus in Norwich. Custom-made trophies are awarded to runners and walkers in several categories once the last person has crossed the finish line. New this year: a drone will take aerial footage of racers as they make their way through the course.
