NORWICH – Hidden Springs Brewhouse is celebrating three months of success with an Oktoberfest event that will include more than 20 vendors, daily prizes, and live music.

The brewhouse’s Oktoberfest celebration will be from 3 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, noon to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, along with noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. It is located at 170 County Road 31 in Norwich.

Event organizers said musicians including Bob Kalka, Quona Hudson, Scattered Flurries, and Our common Roots will perform throughout the event. Organizers added that there will also be local vendors, a corn hold tournament, hay rides, and face painting on Saturday.

According to Hidden Springs Brewhouse Co-Owner Mark Moore, owning a business with his wife Krista Porter-Moore, after making it into retirement along creating quality craft beers have been driving factors in the creation of their brewhouse.

“It began from a conversation about owning our own business once we went into retirement,” said Moore. “Ever since we’ve opened, things have been fantastic, we’re above projections, and we’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback from the community which we’re really excited about.”

Porter said in their mission to create enjoyable craft beer, they’ve hired on brewmaster Nathan Edgett, who has done an outstanding job creating signature brews for the company.

“I think making excellent craft beer is a real talent, and that’s why we are so lucky to have a talent brewmaster like Nate,” he said. “To assist with our creation of great brews, we buy as many local ingredients as we can.”

He added that the business is operated by five employees, and that all floor games including an arcade cabinet, pool table, and foosball table are free to play for patrons.

“We wanted to keep everything simple for the people want to come in to get a drink, but might enjoy playing some games as well,” said Moore. “We didn’t start this company to get rich, right now we’re just enjoying owning our business and being part of our community.”
