CHENANGO COUNTY – There are 11 contested elections throughout Chenango County; officials said now is the time to get out and vote.
The general election is being held from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. today.
For City of Norwich residents, the polling site is at Saint Bart’s Parish Center on 81 East Main Street.

Chenango County Republican Commission Mary Lou Monahan said election results will be posted online when available.
“We recommended voters visit either the NYS Board of Election website or our website for election results starting at 9 p.m.,” she said.
Contested positions for election in Chenango County include:
City of Norwich Mayor with candidates Jill S. Osterhout-Kraft, Shawn C. Sastri, Christine A. Carnrike, and Joseph P. Maiurano.
For City of Norwich Alderman Ward 3, Nancy H. Allaire and Scott M. Sutton, and for Ward 5 Jennifer W. Olds and David M. Zieno.
Town of Guilford Council Richard J. Dunnigan, Terence L. Ives, and Gilda P. Ward with additional opposition from a write in campaign. Write in candidates include Dan Harrington for town supervisor, along with Duane Reif and Rebecca Young for town council.
The write-in candidates launched their campaigns to voice concerns about a development project in Guilford that could soon have windmills built in Chenango County.
Monahan said in the Town of Guilford election those who wish to vote for anyone not officially listed must write the individual’s name in the correct column and space to be counted.
“We want to make sure each vote is counted correctly, so we ask people to spell out the candidates full name, but that likely won’t be a factor in this election as each candidate’s name is fairly unique,” she added.
Individuals running for the Town of Columbus Highway Superintendent position are Kevin D. Cross and Christopher Figger, and for Town Justice Michael B. Anson and Richard M. Fornito, Sr.
Town of Norwich Supervisor candidates include Stanley D. Foulds and Debra A. Cubbedge, and for Town Council Member Barbara E. Collins, Debra S. Sanderson, Michael A. Gibbon, and Larry J. Monahan.
Candidates for Town of North Norwich Supervisor include Timothy C. Brown and Robert E. Wansor.
Daniel J. MacIntosh and Jeffrey B. Franklin are running for Town of Preston Superintendent of Highways.
Individuals campaigning for Town of Plymouth Council Member are Craig A. Ackerman, Frank T. Williams, and Garry R. James.
Town of Coventry Supervisor candidates include Jan A. Andrews and Jennifer B. Boudreau.
For McDonough Superintendent of Highways Francis L. Tucker, Jr. and Glen E. Naber.
