Earlville man facing felonies after attempting to escape police twice

NORWICH – An Earlville man has been charged with multiple felonies after he fled from police attempting to pull him over for a traffic stop. Police then said he again tried to flee while inside the police station.

Michael P. Piliero, 21, of Earlville was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree escape, third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest following two incidents in the City of Norwich.

According to City of Norwich Detective Sergeant Reuben Roach, on the morning of October 27, a Norwich police officer attempted to stop Piliero on North Broad Street.

Roach said Piliero then sped away, leading to a high speed chase that was eventually called off for the safety of the public.
