Police caution drivers following incident at Norwich 5k

NORWICH – A Norwich man was ticketed following a driving incident at the Turkey Trot 5k this year, and police warned drivers to obey flag carriers, especially with the Parade of Lights this weekend.

According to Norwich Police Department Assistant Chief Scott Burlison, fire police attempted to stop a vehicle from going through an intersection during the Turkey Trot 5k, but the individual failed to obey their directions and could have caused a serious accident.

“It all boils down to the safety of the motorist and the safety of the pedestrians,” said Burlison. “During these major events that the city hosts, we rely on the assistance of fire police and other volunteers to help keep event participants safe.”
