OXFORD – From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, the Oxford Winter Farmers’ Market will help you deck your halls, stuff your stockings and stock your shelves for the holidays at the Parish House Community Center of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 34 Main Street in Oxford.
According to event organizers, those who love the Winter Market for its variety of fresh produce, dairy products, free-range eggs, locally-raised beef, lamb, pork and chicken, breads and baked goods, jams, syrup, honey, will also love the wide selection of locally-made artisan goods, from the Oxford FFA’s wreaths to local alpaca fiber and willow products, hand-made pottery, artists prints, jewelry, small-batch soaps & lotions & lip balms. All make great gifts for the holidays.
Chef Becky, former owner of Becky’s Place in Norwich, will be offering a freshly-made chili and cornbread for the Local Lunch. And live music will be performed by Elaine Sherman of Tremolo whose traditional, folk, Irish, and popular music on the hammered dulcimer will encourage shoppers to come and stay awhile.
There will be hourly holiday door prize drawings starting at 11 a.m., and gift items, donated from more than a dozen of the Market’s vendors include an alpaca scarf donated by Rock Garden Alpacas, a basket of bath products from G. G. Willows Handmade 100 percent Essential Oil Vegan Soaps and Organic Lotions, a pottery item from Pottery by Mary, a 12oz bottle of Walling’s Maple Syrup, a hand-made necklace from Solstice, and selections of produce and baked goods from The Noble Loaf, Dianne Lewis and Sunrise Farms.
There is no charge to be eligible for a door prize, but recipients must be present when their name is called. Organizers said attendees will have fun finding the perfect gift made by the hands of artisans right here in the local community while stocking up with fresh local produce.
Don’t miss all that Oxford will have to offer this weekend: The Oxford Christmas Market at 6 On The Square, 6 Lafayette Park, ongoing through this Saturday 9 to 5 p.m.; Santa’s Secret Shoppe at the United Church of Christ Oxford Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon; the Clyde Cole Wrestling Tournament at the Oxford High School Gym, from Friday 5 p.m. through Saturday.
On Sunday, December 8, visit the Community Breakfast at Fort Hill Post #376 American Legion (17 S Washington) from 7:30 to 11 a.m. and The Wynotte Sisters at 6 On The Square, 6 Lafayette Park starting at 7 p.m.
