NORWICH – NBT and Commerce Chenango held their annual Holiday Spectacular event on Tuesday night, with live music, catering, and a mission to help local non-profits including Toys for Tots along with Roots and Wings.

According to NBT Senior Vice President and Director of Corporate Communications Florence Dollar, this event is part of NBT’s Business After Hours series. For this event, local organizations had the opportunity to have fun, kick off the holiday season, and donate to charitable causes.

“It has always been important for us to focus on the community, and the different ways we can give back,” said Dollar. “This event is a great example of ways that we can do that, by getting organizations together in an event that has a giving focused component.”

“Community involvement and supporting our communities is something that we focus on all year long, but this event allows us to help local people who are struggling around the holiday season.”

She said more than 100 people attended the event, and numerous donations were collected for Toys for Tots and Norwich’s Roots and Wings.

Norwich’s NBT Branch Manager Brian Burton said this year it was particularly important to help local non-profits, as they have been struggling to gather the supplies they need to help families around the holiday season.

“This year seems like it's going to be tougher for Toys for Tots in particular,” said Burton. “We want to make sure that we’re helping these organizations and giving back to the community, especially with this being our holiday spectacular event.”

Burton said last night’s event is one that the company loves to host each year, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the assistance of Commerce Chenango.

“Without Commerce Chenango this event doesn’t happen,” he said. “We have a great partnership with them and many other organizations, and we appreciate all of the work that went into making the event happen.”

Burton said Blue Star Cafe catered the event, and live music was provided by Guitarist Mark Sherwood.

Representatives of NBT asked local residents to consider donating towards the Chenango United Way capital fundraising campaign. Currently United Way has raised just over half of their goal, and those who are interested in donating may visit chenangouw.org/ for more information.
