NORWICH – From now until the end of December, the Chenango SPCA will be working with the Staffworks Fund, a non-profit, to raise money for the local shelter in the “Save a Life Campaign.”

The campaign is organized by the Staffworks Fund. The group will match every donation, dollar-for-dollar during December, up to $10,000 to the animal shelter. Once that amount is reached, the fund then donates an additional $1,000 for every $5,000 raised.

In six days, the CSPCA surpassed that figure and has raised $27,520, and the Staffworks Fund’s Save A Life Campaign will contribute more than another $13,000.

“It just helps in so many ways, and it makes a difference in what we can do,” said Chenango SPCA Executive Director Annette Clarke in regards to the campaign.

“It costs about $1,000 a day to run the shelter with payroll, cleaning supplies, food, cat litter. Donations are what we use to pay for a lot of what we do because they're unrestricted.”

Clarke expressed her gratitude towards the community. Stating they've not only received donations from regular donors, but she is seeing an increase of new donors participating in the fundraiser as well.

According to the organizations website, the mission of the Staffworks Fund is supporting non-profit organizations that take care of at-risk animals. Since 2014 the fund has raised 1.25 million dollars for non-profit organizations that serve at-risk animals in upstate New York. This year there are 29 organizations participating.

“It's not too late to give,” reminds Clarke. Donations can be made by visiting the CSPCA website at chenangospca.org. You also have the option to call or mail in your donation. Details for ways to donate can be found on the CSPCA website.

The CSPCA also just completed their Ice Cream Fundraiser with Gilligan's in Sherburne. They sold 200 pints of ice cream, including the limited edition peanut butter canine crunch, raising $600 for the shelter. Pick up for the ice cream will take place at the CSPCA on December 17.
