$155k missing from Columbus business, finance director arrested

COLUMBUS – A New Berlin woman is facing charges from the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office after she allegedly used her position as director of finance to embezzle more than $155,000 from a Columbus business.


Amy L. Grant, 43, of New Berlin was charged with second-degree grand larceny, a class C felony, first-degree scheme to defraud, a class C felony and first-degree falsifying business records, a class E felony.


Police began investigating Grant after the company reported discovering suspicious activity.


According to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, Grant was charged following an investigation into embezzlement, where she allegedly stole from Golden Artist Colors Inc. in the Town of Columbus.
