Blackhawks wrestlers fly past Marathon on senior night

GREENE – The Oxford-Greene Blackhawks picked up a big Section IV 50-30 win over Marathon on the mat Thursday, a night where the coaching staff honored the seniors of the 2019-2020 roster.

Prior to the start of the match, Paul Baker and Noah Kennedy were recognized for their years of dedication to the sport of wrestling as well as the program.

Baker and Kennedy both went on to win their bouts in the meet, earning nine of the team’s 50 points. Kennedy won his 195 pound match by pinning Marathon’s Nate Warner at the 1:09 mark in the first period.

Baker captured a 6-1 decision in the meet, taking down the opponent’s Mike Wales at 160 pounds.

Oxford-Greene received points early in the match as Marathon forfeited at 106, 120 and 126 pounds. Marathon earned all of the points given up due to no wrestler by capturing all bout wins in the meet by pinfall.
