The Impact Project will accept applications following months-long hiatus
GREENE – After a several month-long application freeze for those who are seeking assistance The Impact Project has announced that starting next Wednesday, they will once again be accepting applications thanks to volunteer efforts.
According to The Impact Project Founder Jim Willard III, starting on January 29, the Greene office will be open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and taking applications for Chenango County residents.
On September 7, 2019 The Impact Project released a statement discussing the hundreds of applications and requests for assistance it had received that year. Now representatives are saying that they’re happy to be able to begin accepting applications again.
“People can stop by and call at the time,” said Willard. “We’re excited to be able to be accepting applications again, and we look forward to helping more people in Chenango County.”
Willard said The Impact Project was forced to stop taking requests after hundreds flooded their offices last year.
“At this point in time, we’re opening the application process back up indefinitely,” he said. “Some of the homeowners for this year have already been chosen based on past requests, and they will be informed in the upcoming months.”
He added that this was possible thanks to the efforts of a dedicated volunteer who has agreed to stop in once a week to help keep application burdens low.
“It’s our hope to repeat 2019’s performance of having 10-12 homeowners helped in Chenango County,” said Willard. “That would be an increase, as we helped 7 homeowners in Chenango County last year.”
Willard added that those who are seeking assistance may contact (607) 656-9499 for additional information.
