Oxford holds off Storm’s third quarter push for MAC senior night win

OXFORD – The Lady Blackhawks came away with their 10th win of the 2019-2020 season, taking down Unadilla Valley 54-30 on the night they honored the five seniors set to graduate in June.

Prior to the start of the game, head coach Chris Palmer honored the five seniors – Caitlyn Quigley, Ellie Ryan, Taylor Moore, Jada Albin and the late Amelia Wakefield – for the years of hard work and dedication to the Oxford girls’ program.

Fired up to play in front of the home crowd, the Lady Blackhawks jumped out to a 13-5 lead after the first quarter and built the advantage to 14 points before the intermission.

Oxford was able to gain the large margin in the first half due to their rebounding. The Blackhawks out-rebounded the UV Storm 40-29 and the upper hand came on the offensive end of the floor. Off the five extra second-chance opportunities, Oxford scored 10 points over the course of the game.
