NORWICH - A water main burst Thursday near the South Plaza in the Town of Norwich, and officials said fortunately water service to the area went uninterrupted.

According to City of Norwich Fire Department Chief Jan Papelino, the water main break was reported at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, and City Department of Public Works (DPW) representatives located the break near Subway shortly after.

Papelino said while it was reported early on that water service may be interrupted, DPW workers were able to isolate the break in time to keep water pressure.

“I think everyone has kept water through the whole thing,” said Papelino. “It’s been reported that the break was isolated.”
