Police investigate pedestrian killed by SUV in Norwich, no arrests made
NORWICH - New York State Police have released additional information on a fatal accident that occurred Monday night and said the investigation is still ongoing.
According to New York State Police Troop C Public Information Officer Aga Dembinska, at approximately 9:50 p.m. on July 13, New York State Police at Norwich responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian near Fred’s Inn in Norwich.
Dembinska said an investigation at the scene revealed that Gary B. VanDusen, 77, of Norwich, was walking his dog in an unlit area of State Route 12 in the Town of Norwich when they were struck and killed by a brown 2011 Toyota RAV4.
“The driver did stop immediately, and while he tried to help the victim, someone else who was on the scene called 911,” she added.
The operator of the truck, Tony L. Williamson, 45, of Bainbridge, was traveling Southbound on Route 12 when he struck VanDusen.
