NORWICH – On Wednesday, the City of Norwich closed the north end of Guernsey Street to allow for the removal of a home that was destroyed in a fire in mid June.
Burrell’s Excavating was on the scene clearing away the remains of the 1,500 square foot home located at 37 Guernsey St. Workers hosed down debris to prevent dust clouds forming and contaminating the air.
"Due to the condition of the house, we weren't able to check it for asbestos. By keeping everything damp, it prevents any possible spread," said Norwich Fire Chief Jan Papelino.
