NORWICH - With hopes of increasing traffic at the Lt. Warren E. Eaton Airport in Norwich, county planners are reaching out to private companies to settle a fixed base operator (FBO) at the facility.
FBOs are granted the right by an airport to operate at the facility and typically offer services such as fueling, hangaring, tie-down and parking, aircraft rental, aircraft maintenance, flight instruction, and other related services.
The Chenango County Planning Department is working closely with the airport administrator, the county’s airport steering committee, and contracted engineers to pitch the idea to potential FBOs.
“What we've been talking about for a long time is starting to find a fixed base operator for our airport,” said Chenango County Planning Director Shane Butler. “What we've decided to do is work with airport steering, C+S (Engineering), and others to design a flyer that we could email to different businesses.”
