SOUTH NEW BERLIN – The South New Berlin Free Library and Museum is raising $282,824 with goals of constructing a community room addition on their facility, being able to provide more classes for adults and youth, and to structure a stairway system for easier access to the museum.
According to South New Berlin Free Library Director Robin Avolio, the library has already raised $204,082 in total. She said $197,926 was raised through a New York State Education Department Library Construction Aid Grant and $6,156 in local donations.
She added that the library hopes to raise another $78,742 before October 6, 2020 through local donations.
“This project could bring several different opportunities to the center of South New Berlin that we believe the community is going to really enjoy,” said Avolio. “We haven’t requested an increase in taxes for the past three years, and our goal is to not raise them for this project either.”
