Two men indicted following alleged $50,000 of destruction in Sherburne

CHENANGO COUNTY – Four individuals face indictments following a variety of felony crimes including two men who allegedly broke into a facility in the Village of Sherburne and stole materials from within.


Jason L. Wheeler and Shawn C. Wheeler have been indicted on third-degree burglary, a class D felony, second-degree criminal mischief, a class D felony, and fourth-degree grand larceny, a class E felony.


According to their indictments, this year during the time period of February and April 25 each individual, “while acting in concert with another” stole copper, aluminum, steel, brass, tools and other items valued at approximately $3,000.

The indictments state that during that time each individual intentionally damaged the Village of Sherburne property including the walls, floors, ceilings, electrical, plumbing, and heating with the estimated damage being more than $50,000.
