NORWICH – Tally Ho Treasures, a new antique shop, is set to open Thursday in downtown Norwich. The store carries vintage and collectors items such as artwork and home decor.

Co-Owners Jim Gallagher and Sharron Kantor purchased the property at 85 South Broad Street back in January. According to Gallagher, the building was used as a podiatry office prior to their taking it over.

Tally Ho Treasures hours of operation will be Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 5:30 p.m.

Gallagher has spent more than 40 years as a high end antique dealer; he and is late partner traveled to between 40 and 50 antique shows a year. He maintained a warehouse and shop in North Norwich which he worked out of.

Kantor is retired from working in corporate America having traveled working for a financial institutuion and has been involved in several diverse businesses, including raising exotic animals.

After Gallagher met Kantor, they realized the trade show business was changing and that they needed to change with it.

"We realized that a local antique shop that offered something for everyone would be a great project and what better place than Norwich," said Kantor.

The pair have been working for months to get the shop in perfect condition.

"We installed drop ceilings all throughout the shop," said Gallagher.

"We also replaced the windows," said Kantor. "Jim switched the doors in the entry way because one has a large window, we want it to be perfect."

The shop owners said they have enjoyed working together with many local contractors to produce a shop they are proud of and they are anxious to show it off to the residents of Norwich.

"Our mission is to have a shop where everyone is welcome and to have a fun atmosphere where children from 2 to 99 can find just what they are looking for," said Kantor. "There's even a kids room."

Kantor and Gallagher invite the public to celebrate their grand opening this Thursday, September 24. They remind their guests to remember to wear their masks and practice social distancing.
