CHENANGO COUNTY – The Chenango County Area Agency on Aging has worked with a variety of volunteers to deliver meals to senior citizens for Thanksgiving.

According to Chenango County Area Agency on Aging Nutrition Services Coordinator Jackie Lisk, approximately 50 senior households will receive goods thanks to the efforts of agency staff volunteers from across Chenango County.

“This is the first time we’ve ever done something like this,” Lisk said. “I appreciate how everyone has stepped up, and if individuals are drawn to do more, we’re always looking for volunteer drivers.”

Lisk said this event was about showing seniors that they matter, and supporting the community during a time of need. She said the meals were delivered last week.

“Throughout the pandemic we have seen many changes in how the Chenango County Area Agency on Aging Nutrition Program serves our community. However, one thing that has remained constant is the community support that we have been given during this time,” said Lisk. “We have two large programs that are part of our Nutrition Program: The Home Delivered Meal program and our Senior Center program with seven centers located throughout Chenango County.”
