VARSITY GIRLS’ FIELD HOCKEY: Sherburne-Earlville comes up short against Oneida

SHERBURNE – In what was a tightly contested game throughout, the Sherburne-Earlville Marauders girls’ varsity field hockey team dropped a 2-0 match-up with the visiting Oneida Indians. Despite S-E outshooting Oneida, seven to six as well as the Marauders holding a firm lead in penalty corners eight to four, the visiting Indians still managed to sneak two goals past the Marauder defense.

Oneida found the back of the net in the second quarter and would later find more success when they struck again in the third period for their second goal of the game.

Meanwhile, Oneida goalie Hannah Mendillo was the brick house that the Marauders just couldn’t find a weak spot to take advantage of; as Mendillo recorded four saves in the game.
