Norwich school superintendent reaches out for community feedback

Dear Members of the Norwich Family,

We are at a turning point and very excited to be considering the future of NCSD. Wednesday night, the Norwich Board of Education adopted the proposed 2021-22 budget; the means to support the work that lies ahead as we consider a rebrand at NCSD.  As we continue planning for what post-pandemic school life will look like, we need your help. My hope is that by now, you have heard discussion focused on development of a Mission and Vision that guides the decision-making at NCSD.

Over the course of the next two months, this will be the focus of our work and we need your perspective to ensure we end with a product that is representative of  “who we are, what we believe  and what we value” as a community.

Our first steps will involve asking you to consider, What works well in Norwich? What can we build on? What have we learned over the past year and what will our future look like? There are important questions for our entire school community to consider and we need everyone’s help in answering them. Again, I am writing to ask for your input.

We’re beginning a strategic planning process that takes into account what is working, what we’d like to improve on and how everyone in our school community feels about the work. Please tell us what you think we are doing well and what can we improve on. We would also like to know what you think we should be considering for the future. Our plans will be based on your feedback.

Please share your thoughts by clicking on the following link to a thought exchange: https://my.thoughtexchange.com/833638963

You can add thoughts, see what other community members are thinking and rate each other’s feedback. All of this is done anonymously, and we encourage you to check back often to keep the conversation going. The exchange will be open until May 3rd. Over the coming months, the board and leadership team will be using your feedback for discussions and planning with volunteers from all groups in our school community.  Stay tuned for more information on how to get involved further.

Thank you again for your support and all you do to make our schools great.

Respectfully,
Scott Ryan
Superintendent of Schools
Norwich City School District
