Helping Hands Norwich assists more than 100 people during giveback night
Helping Hands Norwich assisted more than 100 people at their giveback night last week, and organization representatives said it wouldn’t have been possible without support and dedication of their volunteers and donors. (Norwich Family YMCA photo)
NORWICH – Late last week volunteers from Helping Hands Norwich assisted more than 100 individuals in about half an hour through its giveback night.
According to Norwich Family YMCA Executive Director Jamey Mullen, 135 people received assistance at the April 15 Helping Hands Norwich giveaway night held at the YMCA. Mullen said volunteers worked so efficiently that 85 vehicles full of people and five walk-ins were helped in approximately 35 minutes.
“We continue to be overwhelmed with joy when our amazing community comes together to support one another,” he said on social media. “The power of good is what makes us stronger together.”
Helping Hands Norwich Founder Lorri Race said the night’s success wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of numerous volunteers and organizations.
Race said, additionally, she greatly appreciates the donation from the Wild Owl along with efforts from Pat Dietrich, and funds raised will to go towards helping the community.
Mullen also thanked the volunteers and donors for their contributions.
“Thank you to the volunteers who worked through the weather and elements,” said Mullen. “Thank you to the donors who graciously support Helping Hands with financial and in-kind support.”
“Your hard work and dedication behind the scenes does not go unnoticed.”
